Look at the damn picture!

Over-all, Andrew is a nice guy. He’s optimistic and always happy, making sure to always look at the silver lining of whatever problem that happens to arise. He’s always got some philosophical outlook on life, though most of the time it’s just a cock-and-bull story to get out of any trouble or any conversation. He’s very energetic and always has been, partially due to his love of nature. If he really had to study, he’d much prefer doing it outside than in a classroom. Honestly, he’d prefer doing anything outside than in. Hint hint, girls.

Andrew has a certain quirk where not only is he independent, but anti-dependent. He doesn’t want to be dependent of anyone – hell, he absolutely refuses to be. This can cause some troubles to surface, but they eventually get solved after several lectures from authority figures. Luckily for Andrew, he just seems to have a tendency to attract, well, good luck. He manages to get out of tight spots purely because of it. His foresight doesn’t hurt at all, but without the luck, he would’ve probably been expelled by now. His practical jokes can sometimes go to a bit of an extreme, especially when they’re done on teachers.

Unfortunately, along with the energy comes a great big helping of restlessness. He simply cannot sit still. When he had been in Hogwarts, classes drove him to unbelievable heights of boredom (he tended to just fall asleep) unless they were actually doing something. His grades hadn’t too great because of that. This still applies. Serious work bored him. When bored and restless, Andrew also tends to be a tad tactless. Well, that also applies to his general daily life. Sometimes, he just does not know when to keep his mouth shut. Additionally, another negative side-effect of the energy is clumsiness. Yeah, Andrew’s a bit of a klutz – okay, more than a bit. He tends to embarrass himself a lot because of it. Thankfully, though, he’s not as bad as, say, Neville or Tonks.

A slight concern, however, is his short temper. It often flares over stupid things, but it never reaches its full height. Andrew has been tossed in detention numerous times because his temper resulted in the breaking of many, many rules. Again, this still applies. He can get into trouble with random people simply because of messing around, or flaring up. But really, that’s still not as bad as it could get. He is a good-natured person and doesn’t like to hurt anyone, even those wretched Death Eaters. However, his morals can get a little hazy if any friend of his is assaulted in any way – verbally or physically.

He’s a generous, friendly guy who simply loves playing jokes on others. He’s the younger version of the Weasley Twins, except not as brilliant. He focuses on the present and immediate gratification without looking at the bigger picture. The future is always just too far off in his mind. Andrew is a good guy to have as a friend; he’ll always make you laugh.

Originally, the Kirkes were just like any other family in London, England. When Ian Kirke was a young boy, he knew nothing of the magical world. He grew up in an upper class town, among the upper class Brits. He was taught elegance, poise, and all those boring manners. Never once was he taught about magic. He didn’t know that, at some point in his ancestry, there had been a witch in the family. She’d been estranged from it, however, and called “dotty”. Charlisé, on the other hand, had descended from a long line of Wizards and Witches. She had attended Beauxbatons, like most of the Beauvais family before her. Most of them, if they had been in Hogwarts, would’ve been sorted into Slytherin. Charlisé, however, took another route when she moved to England to become an Auror. Ian had been, at that point, working as a politician. Even Muggle Politicians had a lot to deal with in those times – the Dark Lord’s reign was at its peak. The two had met by chance and Charlisé’s temper drove her to turn one of his antique statues into a raging tiger until he swore that he believed she was a witch. They were married soon after and produced three interesting and lovely children.

Danny came first in 1977. For years, everyone thought that Danny was pure muggle, just like his father. Three years after his birth came Andrew. Right from the start, Ian and Charlisé knew that he would grow to be a wizard. He just seemed to be such a magical baby. They were proven right when, at three years old, Andrew somehow managed to replace his brother’s speech with the braying of a donkey. Andrew did not have a single clue as to how he was doing all this, nor how to control it. But, somehow (using his amazing luck), he managed to take advantage of it. He constantly did things to his brother, such as making a seemingly closed can of jelly levitate over Danny’s head. Danny would call his jokes stupid and, soon enough, the family dogs would be licking the strawberry-flavored boy from head to toe.

1985 saw the birth of yet another child, this time a girl. She was to be called Joni and she was the only one of the Kirke family who did not grow to become a witch or wizard. She, however, was perfectly content with helping Andrew make Danny’s life a living hell – just for fun, of course. Andrew loved his brother, after all. Danny was getting furious. It wasn’t his fault that he couldn’t do magic! He was so fed up that, finally, one day when he was nine years old, he magically caused Andrew’s toy broom to blow up. Everyone celebrated the news- Danny could do magic! Dan was, obviously, happy, but for different reasons. He’d first suffered three years of his parents discussion about how wonderfully magical Andrew was going to be. And then three more years of Andrew’s torment. Danny was just happy that he could finally fight back.

Since the Kirkes were living in England, all three children were supposed to be sent off to Hogwarts when it was their time. Danny, in 1988, was sorted into Slytherin. It seems he had taken after Charlisé’s family rather than his own immediate one. Andrew had to wait until 1992, because he had turned eleven a bit late. When he did go to Hogwarts, however, he was sorted into Gryffindor. He had the time of his life in Hogwarts. He met his best mates Jack Sloper and Ritchie Coote early on. He was only sorry that Joni couldn’t be there, too. He always sent her whatever he could, so that she could feel that she was part of it, too. She loved these gifts (especially when he came home with Chocolate Frogs and all kinds of yummy treats!), but really, she was fine. She loved her friends and her school, too, so all was happy in the Kirke house. Or, well, so they thought.

Andrew was doing better every year. He finally made Beater in his fifth year after the spots opened up. He had always loved Quiddich, even as a young tike riding on those tiny brooms. He felt bad about out-‘Beat’ing Jack, but it turned out all right. He kept getting into detentions, though, which was a slight problem concerning practices. He couldn’t help it, really. Andrew just loved pranking every single person, especially his brother.

Unfortunately, Danny wasn’t of the same mind. As each year passed, he kept getting worse. Surrounded by the Slytherins, he was drifting farther and farther into their ideas. After one last major prank by his brother, Danny snapped. He graduated in 1995 and went on to become a Death Eater, shocking and shaming his parents. Andrew and Joni weren’t too surprised, although they felt quite bad – especially Andrew. He knew that a lot of his pranks had probably pushed Danny farther. Well, that sod had it coming.

Ian and Charlisé Kirke were distraught. Charlisé was an Auror, sworn to protect the world from those menacing figures; sworn to capture and, if need be, kill the Death Eaters. What if she were to come face to face with her son?

Either way, Andrew could not stay with his parents and comfort them. He had to return to Hogwarts. He’d been honestly worried that he would’ve changed, but was pleasantly surprised to find his old, jokester self rapidly coming back, the moment he stepped through those great big doors. Hogwarts was home. His sixth year had soon to become marred, however, by Lord Voldemort. The Dark Lord had taken over Hogwarts, turning it into possibly the worst place he had ever stepped foot in. Sooner than later, he had joined most of his fellow Gryffindors in revolting against Snape and his Death Eater pals.

This constant battle could have damaged Andrew permanently. Not physically; sure, he had been hurt several times, but there was no doubt that he would make a full recovery. No, most people were worried about Andrew’s personality. It seemed, however, that they really didn’t have to worry. Andrew kept everyone’s spirits up by staying his optimistic, cheerful, and rather silly self. No, he was no longer naïve, but he was still always the one bringing smiles (or, quite oftenly, smirks) to everyone’s faces.

The only time Andrew had shown a great sadness was during the big battle of good versus evil. So many had died. But even more than that; he had seen his brother. Danny had been fighting, killing students and order members alike. But he had caught sight of his little brother, just as Andrew had seen him. During that short moment when their eyes met each other, Danny grinned quite maniacally. He was glad – this seemed to be his chance to finally kill Andrew. That split second of distraction, however, had caused him his death. Someone, Andrew hadn’t been able to see who, had finally killed the darkest area of Andrew’s life. Rather than feel glad, he had sunk into a bit of a depression. Andrew had fully expected to be jovial when his brother’s end came. It seemed he was wrong. Despite it all, despite everything Danny had done to him, the man had still been his brother.

Because of this, Andrew had disappeared after the battle. He went back home to stay with his parents and sister. They mourned the loss of Danny, and Andrew gradually went back to normal. A year later, he went to work at the WWW. To this day, Andrew missed his brother. More importantly, however, he was trying to think of a new career. He couldn’t work in the WWW forever, after all.

Well, the years start coming and they don't stop coming, fed to the rules and I hit the ground running. Didn't make sense not to live for fun; your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb. So much to do, so much to see, so what's wrong with taking the back streets? You'll never know if you don't go. You'll never shine if you don't glow. Hey now – you're an All Star; get your game on, go play. Hey now – you're a Rock Star; get the show on, get paid. Only shooting stars break the mold. The ice we skate is getting pretty thin, the water’s getting warm so you might as well swim. My world's on fire, how about yours? That's the way I like it and I'll never get bored. Somebody once asked could I spare some change for gas, ‘I need to get myself away from this place’. I said yep, what a concept, I could use a little fuel myself, and we could all use a little change. Well, the years start coming, and they don't stop coming. Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running. Didn't make sense not to live for fun; your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb.
